I was in a smaller work environment where I was given much attention to work on my skills. The other advisors in the office took time out of their busy days to show me something I can benefit from learning and genuinely cared about my growth. I feel it is easy for an intern to be overlooked in many organizations but I was looked at no differently than anyone’s else in the office. I truly loved my experience and there is a high chance I take the job offer on the table for me come May.
What I wish was different
I wish I was able to sit in on more client meetings to gain a better understanding of the types of questions people may have and how the advisor uses their language to their advantage. Small play on words can make a huge difference.

What I liked
I finally got some real life experience and knowledge in the field. Worked with two mentors that gave me a wide variety of tips and were open to any questions that I could think of.
What I wish was different
I just wish I could’ve worked more hours there over the Summer, I was in the late about 20 hours a week but would have been happy doing at least 30
Advice
If you’re working towards a career in financial services, you need to be driven and very deliberate with your time. Put a system in place for how you take on your responsibilities and always be improving it, and communication is everything.
