What I liked

I loved getting to share my passion for the outdoors with kids! Environmental education was a main focus of the camp and allowed me to gain skills in that discipline as well as help the kids learn about the Appalachian region. This job gave me crucial life skills such as decision-making, leadership, and childcare while also allowing me to have a fun, relaxed, outdoors summer job.

What I wish was different

This job definitely challenged me, specifically in my ability to work with kids. Going into it, I could have prepared myself better for spending a month working and interacting with kids 24/7.

Advice

Be flexible! Camp will never turn out to be what you expect, but if you’re ready for anything, you’ll have an incredible time, gain helpful skills, and even make lifelong friends.
