Arlington County Police Department

Investigative Assistant

June - August 2021 • Arlington County, VA

What I liked

Very involved job, lots of insight gained from working here.

What I wish was different

All I wish is that I could've gone through December, but I had to return to being a full-time student so I stopped in August.

Advice

Intern

May - June 2018 • Arlington County, VA

What I liked

I enjoyed learning about how the court system works from an internal perspective. There are millions of Americans involved in our criminal and civil courts every day, but few people know how it actually works. It is a far more complicated process than I ever imagined.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had more time to sit in on court cases, because that is what I found the most interesting.

Advice

Do not take this sort of internship if you are not interested in the legal system. I am considering going to law school after getting my bachelors degree, so I enjoyed learning about the courts but if it's not something that interests you it would probably be really boring.
