Baylor University McNair Scholars Program

Biology Research Intern

June - August 2019 • Waco, TX

What I liked

I loved being in the lab everyday and learning how to use basic laboratory equipment.

What I wish was different

I wish I would've had more interaction with graduate students in the lab to learn from them as well as my advisor.

Advice

Ask when you don't know but don't doubt your abilities in the lab!

Student Researcher

May - August 2018 • Waco, TX

What I liked

I loved the research I was able to do because it was very relevant to my field of study and allowed me to get unprecedented first hand experience. Additionally, I am able to present my research at conferences around Texas and the United States. Finally, I loved learning about other students' and professors' research.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I loved the entire experience, I worked 40 hours a week and generally was able to set my own hours. I felt like I was paid fairly but if I absolutely had to change something it would've been more pay (who wouldn't).

Advice

DO IT - if you are lucky enough to apply for this, do it! You develop phenomenal relationships with professors, grad students at both Baylor and other schools. The relationships you develop are second to none and the research experience is unprecedented.
