Actuarial Intern

May - August 2018 • Whitehouse Station, NJ

What I liked

I was working exactly where I want to work once I graduated. The internship was challenging and I learned a lot, which is exactly what I wanted from an internship.

What I wish was different

Advice

Always be open to learn and never doubt yourself because you don't know something.

Actuarial Intern

May - August 2018 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

I got to experience what it is like to work 40 hours a week and commute to work in the city. This is something that not many people are used to and I think it is important to be exposed to it before starting a full-time job. Also, I was given legitimate actuarial work to complete which gave me a better sense of whether or not I wanted to continue with that path.

What I wish was different

Advice

This is pretty cliche, but I would say to really work hard during you couple months of an internship. Get to know the people on your team and also branch out to others not on your team. Ask questions, but try your best to figure out the solution to your problem first which shows that you can be independent. Finally, I think for most internships, you are going to use excel to an extent that you don't necessarily expect so try to familiarize yourself with excel before your first day.
