HRIS Intern

June - August 2018 • Beachwood, OH

What I liked

My internship experience was tailored to me. I was able to have a broad view of HRIS, including Technical Support, Data Quality, and Project Management. I was able to decide how long I wanted to work in each functional area.

What I wish was different

I wish I had taken advantage of opportunities to work with Talent Acquisition and the HRIS Analytics functional areas.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions! The people you're working with know that you are a student and you may not always understand what is expected of you. They would much rather have you ask a bunch of questions than remain confused and do something incorrectly.

RCM financial reporting & analysis intern

May - August 2018 • Cleveland, OH

What I liked

I liked that I was able to take aspects of my IS and Finance background and apply them to my position. Running queries on all different types of data and analyzing that data brought my coursework full circle. Cleveland Clinic did a great job at making sure you experience all aspects of the enterprise. Because the job is in the finance division and isn’t patient facing, it may be easy to forget exactly why you’re doing the work. My superiors at Cleveland Clinic made sure to sit you in front of people in as many of our hospitals, institutes, and divisions as possible.

What I wish was different

I don’t have any negatives with Cleveland Clinic.

Advice

I would tell anyone to make sure to network with people. Cleveland Clinic is a huge organization and you’ll find many helpful people along the way.

March 2018 • Cleveland, OH

What I liked

I loved working in a highly interdisciplinary environment with people of varying experience levels and pursuing a wide variety of career paths. It really opened my eyes to the power and necessity of collaborative science.
