Ferguson

Inside Sales Trainee

August 2021 • Sacramento, CA

What I liked

Ferguson's training program is the most well-put together experience that I have ever experienced in any job field. The people within the company are welcoming, understanding, and willing to help you succeed no matter what the case may be.

What I wish was different

While applying, learning more about the different career paths in Ferguson. Huge emphasis of them working with you to figure out where you fit/works best for you. Prior knowledge about the opportunity growth would of been great.

Advice

Be prepared to put yourself into uncomfortable positions to make them not so uncomfortable! Trying new things and learn new things. Always a learning curve.

What I liked

Ferguson is an awesome organization that really focuses in on its people. They really aim to develop their associates and care about us. They are giving us the product knowledge and skills to be successful sales associates, and we also have fun at work. Definite win/win!

What I wish was different

I wish that I had found Ferguson sooner! I had never heard of them, and I never really envisioned myself working for a plumbing distributor. However, there is a lot of job security here (Everyone will always need plumbing stuff!), and a lot of room for career growth.

Advice

Apply! Be prepared to work hard and embrace the hard work with an open mind and positive attitude. Ferguson starts all of its associates in the warehouse, and working in the warehouse in August is not for the faint of heart. It is hot, but it is so worth it! You make so many connections who will help to support you in your career, and that experience makes you a better associate. Hard work and humility will help you to succeed at Ferguson!

I wish I could have started sooner. I got the offer in April and started in August.

Advice

Take it all in. Learn as much as you can if you are given the opportunity to work for Ferguson Enterprises. You can take your career so many different ways with one company.

What I liked

Everything, amazing training program. Lots of people that have been with the company for years and are willing to teach. And my ability to move anywhere.

What I wish was different

Advice

Look at unknown companies and fields. I sell plumbing supplies to contractors and plumbers. But love it. I wouldn’t have even applied to Ferguson if I just judged by if I knew the company already.

I would say try to get internships the summer after your sophomore year. The more exposure the better chances you have to find a company you like!
