What I liked

I love being able to help people accomplish daily living activities that they no longer are able to do themselves. The residents have great stories to tell, love to joke, and are very grateful for the work we do.

What I wish was different

I wish we had more people to work! We often work short-staffed, making our job a little harder, and the residents don't always get the 1:1 time they deserve.

Advice

This job is a lot of work, but it is very rewarding. It is okay to say "no" when you are asked to pick up shifts. You have to give yourself a break as a caregiver, and self-care should be number one for the best interest of the vulnerable population we are taking care of.
