Great mentorship - from manager to Intern assigned buddies/ambassador. Inclusive culture- they don't make you feel like you're an intern fresh out of college. They set you up for success. Huge company - everyday I was learning something new.

Cyber Operations

June - August 2020 • Scottsdale, AZ

What I liked

This was an excellent experience to understand automation processes within the Global Cyber Operations and Services division in McKesson Technology. In addition, I loved the exposure Mckesson gave interns of other areas of McKesson Technology. My coworkers were extremely helpful and willing to answer any questions I had. I felt like I was able to grow my skillset exponentially over the summer as I was exposed to real work applications of cyber security.

What I wish was different

McKesson went through a series of layoffs during my time there due to Covid budget changes. While this did not affect the personal team I worked with on a daily basis it did affect the overall feel of the company during the summer. In addition, it affected Mckesson's ability to offer full time employment soon after the internship. Offers that were made to interns were not available until April 2021 due to budgetary restrictions.

Advice

I loved my internship at McKesson and would encourage any intern to take full advantage of this opportunity. I would say you get out of it what you put into it. Take the opportunity to network and talk with professionals about their roles in different areas of McKesson Technology. They have valuable insight to help you with your own career goals. I would say to also not shy away from taking on challenges outside of your comfort zone.

Financial Analyst Intern

May 2018 • Moon Township, PA

Great experience. Easily one of the most hands on corporate finance internships in Pittsburgh. As an intern in the Finance department, you do real work that adds value and are a part of the team.

What I wish was different

Office isn't the most state of the art.

Advice

Be ready to learn when you walk in the building.

Data Analytics Intern

January - August 2019 • Moon Township, PA

What I liked

I enjoyed the support I was given by my managers to take projects at my own pace. All my questions were welcomed and encouraged, and I never felt looked down upon for not understanding something, whether it was about my project or the company overall. I was also encouraged to think critically about the challenges I faced and my perspective of a situation was always valued. All of us interns were also exposed to many aspects McKesson overall and taken on tours of other business units including CoverMyMeds and a McKesson distribution center.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have worked on projects for other departments to get a better idea of their role and expand the skills I was able to cultivate over the summer.

Advice

I wish I would have been more comfortable admitting I was sometimes confused earlier on in my internship. Once I realized that no one was there to put me down and that I actually could create more valuable outputs when I was better informed, I really leaned into asking a lot of questions.

Data Analyst Intern

June - August 2019 • Richmond, VA

What I liked

My internship with McKesson was a tremendous way to spend the summer following my junior year. The internship allowed me to experience a professional workplace while being challenged with a 10-week project. The internship was laid out well, and it was challenging to the point where I was able to expand my knowledge of the healthcare industry while finishing a project that left an important positive impact on the company.
