Saggio Technology

Content Writer

June - August 2023 • North Vernon, IN

What I liked

I really liked the flexibility that this internship offers. Because it is 100% remote, I was able to work on tasks on my own time while maintaining a healthy balance of free time. I also feel like I learned a lot about marketing and the tech industry which were two areas that I did not have a ton of experience with before. Finally, I loved the community at Saggio. Everyone was very nice and always willing to offer advice or help however I needed.

What I wish was different

While I loved the remote aspect, I also felt that there was room for me to be doing more. All of the projects I worked on were great and I felt like they taught me a lot, but I also felt that they perhaps did not fill up enough of my time. I also felt as time went by some of the tasks started to get repetitive as I wanted to learn more and more about marketing and the opportunities that the field offers.

Advice

Don't be afraid to explore your creative side and ask lots of questions if anything is unclear! Your mentor will most likely ask for lots of input about ways that the program can be improved, so if there is anything that you think could be better or more beneficial for your development you should voice those opinions. This is a great internship program and I would recommend it to anyone interested in getting started in marketing.

Assistant to the CMO

June - August 2023 • St. Louis, MO

What I liked

Working at Saggio Technology, I really appreciate the flexibility of the job. Dan Ford encouraged me to complete multiple tasks that weren't under my job description. This job allows for personal growth, manageable hours, and a positive work environment.

What I wish was different

With this job, I only wished that I would communicate with my fellow colleagues more. My job was strictly 1-on-1 with the CMO. But I feel like I am missing out on networking opportunities.

Advice

One piece of advice would be to go for it. You are bound to find a job title that you like or that goes with your major. Instead of hesitating, I say experience the internship at Saggio!

Social Media Marketing

What I liked

Interning at Saggio has been an overall amazing experience so far. The work hours fit perfectly in my schedule and the workload is challenging, but respectful to each interns personal time, as most of us are still taking classes at the same time. Everybody on the team feels like we each care for one another and the workspace on Teams really promotes a "family-oriented" approach to teamwork. I have also learned a lot with this internship that I will be able to use in my future careers and in everyday life. I began with almost no video editing experience or marketing knowledge, and now I am able to edit entire videos with voiceovers. I would highly recommend to anyone seeking implementation and practice with technology related work.

What I wish was different

There is honestly nothing I would change about this internship, I really think it is perfect in terms of what I was looking for and expecting. The only thing that I would change on my end would be to set aside more time on off days to continue to improve my skills in each field.

Advice

To anyone thinking about doing this internship or already involved, I would tell them to work on any skills that they want to improve each day. The internship allows you to work on your own projects at your own pace, so if you are interested in picture created, you should work on that each day, or if you have other interests then you should seek to improve them each time you clock in.

Content Writing Intern

January - April 2023 • Columbus, IN

What I liked

What I like about this internship is that there are endless opportunities for you to express yourself and grow as an individual. The environment is extremely encouraging and welcoming, and everyone is always pushing to be better than they were yesterday, which is very awesome to see. I am able to push myself and try new things, and with Dan's excellent guidance I am learning more about marketing and creating content that I can take with me to any workplace environment!

What I wish was different

This internship is structured very well and is very flexible, making work and class schedules easy to fit into this internship's schedule, and the layout of each day is consistent, which I also really appreciated. If I wished anything were different, maybe the prompts of posts being more specific. I am someone that is big on following directions and doing things the right way, and this internship allows you to follow your own path and go after things you are interested in, which is amazing! Just for me personally, having more specific prompts could have been helpful.

Advice

Just go for it. You are given time to create pieces of art, so it is better to go all out and deliver the best work that you can! There is always room for growth and things to learn, so I found it very beneficial to be as detailed as possible and just have fun with the pieces I was creating!

Social Media Content Creator

January 2023 • Emmitsburg, MD

What I liked

As a social media content creator with Saggio Technology, I had an excellent experience working with a team of creative and knowledgeable professionals and fellow interns. I was able to apply my passion for social media and content creation in a meaningful way, contributing to posts and content. The team at Saggio Technology provided me with the tools and resources I needed to excel in my role. They were always available to answer my questions and offer feedback on my work. I felt supported and valued as a team member, which motivated me to produce high-quality content that aligned with the company's goals and values. Working with Saggio Technology also gave me the opportunity to learn and grow as a content creator. I had access to the latest tools/resources, allowing me to experiment with new formats and techniques. The team also encouraged me to attend industry events and conferences, which helped me stay up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices. Overall, being a social media content creator with Saggio Technology was a rewarding experience that allowed me to showcase my skills and creativity in a collaborative and dynamic environment. I would highly recommend Saggio Technology to any content creator looking to work with a company that values innovation, creativity, and teamwork.

What I wish was different

Saggio had overall been a positive experience, however, the content over the course of the internship has relied solely on my own ideas. I would have benefitted from more guidance on the social media content expected of me, as I had to rely on the guidance of past posts and make the decisions on what to base my content on.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would give any social media intern is to go in with an open mind. Explore your creativity, and use this opportunity to gain the experience to work with certified professionals and other interns. Use the resources you are given to be able to build your portfolio and other things that would be able to help gain another job in the future, or potentially expand beyond your internship into a full-time job with the company.

What I liked

I have really enjoyed my time here at Saggio. It has been beneficial not just for the company, but also for me. The base of my internship has been in creating Social Media content, as a Content Writing intern I focus specifically on captions. Often I collaborate with other interns to produce the end-product of a Social Media post. Obviously these are used to market the company, but the posts themselves are also good additions to my professional portfolio. In this way I have a sort of mutualistic relationship with the company. But it isn't just the posts that are a benefit to me. Honestly, the experience of working at Saggio has taught me how I like to work, and what I should expect in a professional setting. I've learned that I like to work collaboratively, but I can't do it all the time. Especially if I 'm working on an idea of my own, I like to work independently. This experience isn't some sort of byproduct either, it is the goal of Saggio to help their interns grow. Which I have benefited from, and really respect.

What I wish was different

There isn't a ton that I would change about my experience so far. As I said in my answer to the previous question, my internship has been quite beneficial. But there are some things I wish I could do. These aren't necessarily the fault of the company, or the internship, but they have stunted my ambition in some areas. For example, one of the things I wanted to do early on was write short blog posts/ articles about technology for the company. I was denied the ability to do that because Saggio uses a 3rd-party service to automatically post articles on their website. My real ambition there was to do longer-form writing, and so to do that I got permission to explore email marketing. While that initial denial might have been disappointing, I was able to overcome it by creatively thinking inside the confines of the internship. The point is that while there might be small disappointing issues, they have no larger impact on the purpose of the internship and its benefit to you.

Advice

I would say not to expect anything super easy. It's true that the expectations of this internship might not be as hard as some others you might be looking at, but that doesn't not mean you can coast. You are expected to put good work out, and if you really work for yourself the experience can be highly rewarding.

What I liked

Interning at Saggio Technology has given me the freedom to use my talents, hone my skills, and take creative risks in a remarkably supportive environment. Not to sound cliché, but I have learned something new everyday here! In just a few weeks, I have expanded my knowledge in social media marketing, developed my skills as a writer, and gained real-life experience in online advertising. Our supervisor, Dan, works tirelessly to make the interns at Saggio feel valued as individuals. He establishes an enthusiastic, comfortable atmosphere and actively shows his appreciation for the work that we do. This internship has given me the opportunity to collaborate and connect with incredibly talented people. There is a powerful sense of community amongst the interns, as uplifting each other is a huge part of what it means to be a member of the Saggio team. I have consistently felt inspired by my fellow interns and the work that they produce. This experience has been deeply rewarding and exceeded my expectations!

What I wish was different

There isn't much that I would change about this internship program. Although, I think it would be helpful to Saggio if there was a Public Relations writing team. I feel like it would be beneficial to have a team of writers dedicated to creating blog posts or newsletters that publicize a positive image for the company. I believe this would work great alongside the advertisements that Saggio already does, and it would help potential customers feel even more connected to the company.

Advice

Get to know your fellow interns! Use this opportunity to start building your professional network and make new friends. It feels all the more meaningful to give or receive praise from your coworkers when you take the time to connect with them.

What I liked

Being an intern at Saggio has been one of the best experiences. I honestly could not have asked for a better internship. Upon taking this internship, I wasn't sure what to expect considering it's remote, but to my pleasant surprise, I've never felt more welcomed and close to the people I work with. Not only is the company a fantastic one to work for, but the people are all incredibly kind and creative. This internship allows for creativity to shine and has inspired me in many artistic ways. Not only has this internship been a pleasurable and fun work environment, it's also given me the opportunity to gain experience in a field that I would love to work in after graduating. I've realized that content creation is a job that I'm really passionate about, which is something I've learned about myself through this internship. Working for Saggio doesn't even feel like work, and it has made me excited for my future.

What I wish was different

Not something that could be changed, but I wish I could meet all the amazing people I've gotten to work with!

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, Dan is so understanding and kind. Let your creativity show! There are so many ways to be artistic in this internship, which makes it so fun.

What I liked

Where do I start? This internship has been incredible and so insightful. Being from Europe studying in the US, I never realized how popular and important internships are here (as opposed to in Europe.) I always pictured internships as something you do simply to put on your resume, as well as something company's take advantage of in terms of putting you to deal with work they don't want to deal with (or using you to go fetch coffee.) However, this internship has proved me wrong in so many ways. This internship has helped me expand my knowledge in areas that I love the most, such as social media, content creation, marketing, and writing. I have been able to work alongside so many talented students and people, and got to really contribute to the company with my personal touch. I also love how we are not micromanaged, leaving room for plenty success, improvement, and of course personal- and professional growth. This internship has beyond exceeded my expectations and been exactly the kind of work experience that I needed for my future.

What I wish was different

The one thing I wish was different is that I could've done it in person (or at least hybrid). I feel like it would've helped me bond with the other interns better and on a deeper level.

Advice

Take your place! Don't be afraid to come up with new ideas or different perspectives on things. Our supervisor Dan is super understanding and open minded, and loves creativity and thinking outside the box. The worst thing that can happen is that you get a no, which to me has never been an issue. Just come up with something new, and keep working hard!

What I liked

I love the open and fun work environment. When you love what you do, it doesn't feel like work at all! I have the pleasure of working with Dan Ford who runs many different parts of the business while overseeing the internship program. He has a special talent for bringing out the originallity and individuality of each one of his co-workers and blends it together to create amazing work. I never have days where I don’t want to come in. I had no idea what I was walking into, I just read reviews about FUN and applied...and they were right about fun! There is so much to learn, gain, and not just experience but the friendships, skills, and knowledge you recieve from this is like nothing else anywhere else. You are free to be yourself and the diversity is like no other. If your creative and feel held back come to Saggio Technology you won't find a better place to ignite your artistic side whether creating, writing, videoagraphy, or etc you will find they are not scared of new innovative ideas, they take risks and make it worth it.

What I wish was different

I don't really wish anything was different because we are asked about things we would see as flawed or needing to be reinvented to help us succeed more and it is all taken seriously and fixed ASAP. The open communication is huge and well needed to succeed and they take the time to ask during and not after so the whole 15 weeks runs smooth and we feel heard! So nothing needs to be different.

Advice

Have a positive attitude, and show what you have to offer and can bring to the experience. Don't be afraid to be yourself because you are the only you out here! The more you open up the more fun you'll have. They love different, out-of-the-box, and crazy ideas, there is no limitations to your creativity. Be innovative and take initiation for your uniqueness. You will get so much out of this experience if you dig in and have fun with it!

What I liked

Saggio Technology and its staff promote a creative, independent environment that allows for you to develop on the skills that you believe will help you excel in your field. The culture allows for students to follow a more structured week in terms of content output, if that is preferable for that employee, or to explore their creative outlets through the utilization of unique methods to increase audience engagement and impressions. Many tasks are completed for internal and external audiences and collaboration between interns is encouraged. Overall, the internship is great experience for accustoming oneself to a work atmosphere, and Dan, Saggio's guide, is there to help you along the way.

What I wish was different

I feel like time slots in regards to the daily schedule could have been allocated a bit differently to help make room for other aspects of the work day. This can be solved in a multitude of different ways and is a relatively easy fix. Other than that, I have no real complaints, the experience was fantastic.

Advice

I would say to try to remain flexible and reach that creative mindset. Sometimes, you will need to think outside the box or try to come up with some engaging ideas. Come to the job prepared and ready to try things out!

What I liked

So far, the time I have spent in my internship with Saggio Technology has been one of the most informative experiences of my academic career. As a content writer, my primary focus is writing and designing social media posts for the company. Learning how to design social media posts for platforms like Pinterest and LinkedIn has been really fun. In addition, I get to improve my writing skills in an encouraging environment while receiving support from my fellow interns and our supervisor, Dan Ford. I love my creative freedom and appreciate the opportunity to learn more about Saggio Technology and writing for social media!

What I wish was different

What I liked

Dan, who runs the program is an outstanding leader and director to all. The true investment he has for his students is demonstrated through providing a safe place of conversation to ensure the knowledge of his interns. Working for Saggio so far has provided me with life skills and goals that I can utilize in my future occupation. It is not just show up and do some online work. This opportunity challenges you to grow as an individual with the help of Saggio's outstanding staff.

What I wish was different

Overall, I have nothing that I would like to see done differently in regards to this position. We did have a conversation centered on the topic of the success videos, where some felt they were not as important. However, personally I find the videos to be very informative because they apply to every day goals and skills present in real life.

Advice

Definitely do NOT hesitate to ask questions. There is nothing to be afraid of! You are here to grow and Dan does an extraordinary job of understanding that and providing students with immediate feedback!

What I liked

Being at home doing an internship is different then the usual being in person. The great thing about it is that nothing affects the connections you make with individuals in your group. Starting out you should have high expectations for yourself no matter the setting. I grow from the people around me, I don’t compare myself to anyone in the internship. It is easy for me to ask questions from my peers and supervisor. You will make mistakes, but will learn and then they will become lessons. Recovering in the long run is what matters.Taking self assessments and notes on how you're doing and feeling is important, being honest with yourself during the process is how you get through the tough times. It is easy to get lost being online because we all have different backgrounds in technology.Being in a internship is a fast pace environment. There is always someone available though, that’s what I like about it. Saggio Technology brings out my creativity and inspires me in the work field I am interested in. -M’Lei Woodard
