Architecture Intern

May - August 2022 • Nolensville, TN

What I liked

I enjoyed the work environment and the experience of working in a small firm. The type of architecture this firm specializes in is also what I hope to design in my career. Both of these factors left a good impression of this field on me.

What I wish was different

This was hard to come up with since the experience was so amazing, but I wish I had been tasked with something that was a little higher-level on at least one occasion.

Advice

To anyone who may have an interest in interning with this firm, I would encourage you to be open to learning new programs such as AutoCad. I'm not the best with learning new software but they did a good job teaching me how it works, and I was able to do what I needed to do with it. I also learned many Photoshop tricks I didn't know existed. Expect to be going over plans, elevations, and construction documents they've already completed. Specifically, the interns make sure these are presentable for the company website. A fun part of the job involves walking their projects that are in progress and seeing the development of each one over time.
