Sodexo

Marketing Intern

November 2017 - May 2019 • Durham, NC

What I liked

I enjoyed networking among some of the most talented and educated men and women in my field of work. I learned so much from the marketing specialist, and I apply it everywhere I go. The marketing specialist and I were always in contact with one another, and she has opened so many doors for me.

What I wish was different

I wish I had utilized her time way better. Although I learned a lot, I wish I took advantage to learn a whole lot more.

Advice

My advice to anybody doing internships is to first and foremost be humble. Although you may think you know everything, it is probably wise to realize that you do not. There is always something new to learn so be as open minded as possible. Soak up as much information as you possibly can and start making your own connections with people. Lastly, take everything you learn from your experiences and apply it to everything that you do in life.

July 2019 • Johnson City, TN

What I liked

I like the variation in tasks and events, as well as the fast-paced environment.

What I wish was different

I wish the scheduling was a little more consistent, or at least, gave a bit more notice.

Advice

As a student employee, be very clear with the hours you're available to work and draw the line about your availability. It may be different elsewhere, but my boss tends to threaten you if you don't skip class to work if there's an event. While it's a good job, it's not worth poor attendance/performance in class.
