Publications Intern

July - September 2019 • Syracuse, NY

What I liked

I had the ability to take charge of my own projects and they trusted me to be able to do my work effectively and efficiently without them hovering around to make sure I was on track.

Advice

Interning at your own university is something that I think most people don't take advantage of enough. You have a ready made network and you get to build on skills you learn in the classroom to give back to your campus community.

iOS App Developer

May - August 2018 • Syracuse, NY

What I liked

I worked and learned with a team for continued development of an app with server and database integration. I was able to learn while contributing to an useful product. Weekly meetings with supervising professor were helpful and kept goals clear. Fairly relaxed schedule. I arrived on campus ~8AM, at the lab ~10AM, and left ~3-5PM.

What I wish was different

Due to coworkers being students, sometimes it would take a while to receive a clear response. I am personally guilty of this a few times. Communication improved by the end though.

Advice

Be prepared to clearly and frequently communicate on blocking conditions.
