User Services Student Worker

June - August 2018 • Upland, IN

What I liked

I liked the staff members, and I liked learning more about technology.

What I wish was different

I wish I knew more about some of the jobs in the beginning because I was extremely reliant on experienced staff members to help me out or approve something. Sometimes I had to wait around for help or approval.

Advice

I would recommend working here! The staff members are great to work with, and they offer a lot of advice and experience to their workers. You don't require a lot of technology knowledge before working here, but it does help.

Research Assistant

May - August 2018 • Upland, IN

What I liked

I most appreciated the intensive research internship for the multiple projects on which I worked and, therefore, the wide range of skills I aquired. Many of my projects did not require that I stay in Upland, so I could be productive remotely while corresponding with the professor that directed my research.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I cannot think of something that I wish had been different. My professor worked my individuals needs, and he learned how best to motivate me as a research asssistant.

Advice

If your supervisor and project allows, feel free to explore the area around Upland while you work. Additionally, reach out to the other students on campus. It can feel isolating if you do not intentionally seek others out.
