Student Hospitalist Assistant

May 2018 • Iowa City, IA

What I liked

Being a part of an Internal Medicine team and participating on rounds, notes, obtaining records and scheduling future appointments for patients. The part I enjoyed the most was the one-on-one patient interaction I would get to have every day, as well as having a behind the scenes look at the intricacies of medicine.

What I wish was different

Nothing at all. This is the absolute best job I could have ever found.

Advice

This job requires commitment. You can't really miss a day or take days off. You have to be here every day, but if you genuinely enjoy the practice of medicine, it will not feel like work.
