What I liked
UPS never treated us like interns; from day 1, we were teammates and respected as such.
What I wish was different
I wish we could have had some sort of immersion week where we could learn all the practices/processes, abbreviations, and protocols before we dove straight into work. It would've made our tasks run way more efficiently.
Advice
Imagine yourself in a full-time position. An increased level of seriousness will make you passionate about the work you do.

Package Handler
June 2018 • Dallas, TX
What I liked
I enjoyed the week training courses that all part-time employees were required to attend learning about the various symbols stamped on various boxes, and how to properly hydrate in the hot warehouse environment.
What I wish was different
If I did not live so far from the actual location to commute to work.
Advice
Working for UPS-DFW Airport, it is important that you buy sturdy boots to protect your ankles, drink lots of water, Powerade, eat a big breakfast and, get lots of sleep especially you work the sunrise shift at 3am. The job is rewarding after you have loaded and unloaded a full trailer of packages that go in cans to be delivered by plane, truck, or mailman. You also feel refreshed in a way sweating getting in a good exercise bending and toning your arms picking up the 70lbs boxes.

Human Resources Intern
May 2018 • Atlanta, GA
What I liked
My internship has exposed me to the corporate setting and has enhanced my networking, presentation, and analytical skills. I started my internship as a shy, quiet person. Attending mixers, networking events, and corporate service projects helped me to become comfortable and more confident in myself as a professional.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had been able to shadow different business units and professionals within HR and Marketing. Because I was working on a lot of projects for my team, I wasn't able to explore other areas of UPS and discover which business units I may be interested in.
Advice
Meet as many people as you can! UPS has over 400,000 employees, globally. There are so many opportunities to get involved! Joining a Business Resource Group (BRG) will build your network as well as volunteering for the various service projects offered throughout the year.
