Sales and Marketing Intern

June - September 2018 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

I liked learning about and being with my co-workers, my supervisors, my manager, the director, and the other interns. I learned a lot about myself and experienced face-to-face marketing for the first time. It was a very eye-opening experience. I also did a project, which was about on-going training and development. It was really exciting to complete and present to upper management. It didn't hurt that my work partner was fantastic to work with as well. It was also really cool to go on my first official work trip. I became a lot more close to the other interns.

What I wish was different

A more consistent and predictable schedule would have been great.

Advice

Read "The Closer's Survival Guide" by Grant Cardone. Go into work with confidence and ready to be on point. Be kind to everyone and stay in touch with others, even after you leave.

Hospitality Guest Services Inten

May - August 2018 • San Diego, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed all of the staff. Very fun environment to work in. Taught me a lot about application of business practices as well as customer service. Also enjoyed learning a few new systems the company works with. Got to work a few days in every department. Greatly enjoyed full time hours.

What I wish was different

Worked mostly as a front desk agent due to under staffing, I would have liked to have been included in more management meetings.

Advice

Communicate with the management team about what you would like to learn. Only apply if you are committed to working in a customer service oriented industry.

Sales Intern

May - August 2018 • Edisto Island, SC

What I liked

The pay and the very interpersonal interactions that come along with sales. Wyndham has a great intern program that allows you to jump right into their sales rotation alongside seasoned veterans, who will offer great advice if you choose to listen.

What I wish was different

I wish the program pertained more to my major, but experience in sales can translate to any career.

Advice

I would advise people in this position to have the confidence to say the right things. You will be sufficiently trained but it is just up to you to make it work.
