What I liked

The HR team was very organized and coordinated a very smooth onboarding and offboarding experience. The teams and mentors at ZS are all very easy to communicate with and open to talking about their experience. The intern salary is competitive and the office staff are very helpful.

What I wish was different

Advice

Take the time to talk to as many people as you can if you are interested in what they are doing. Everyone at this firm are open to chatting with interns and you can learn many valuable insights about the work, the firm, and people.

What I liked

The best thing about working for ZS was the people, but the second best thing was getting to have direct impact on client projects. Everyone I met at ZS were not only kind and supportive, but also very smart and interesting people. The variety of office events throughout the summer allowed me to meet ZSers outside of my project space and forge genuine friendships with the other interns. My two awesome teams I worked with put tremendous effort into my professional and personal development and allowed me to work directly on deliverables, even if it was at the expense of the project taking a bit longer. At the conclusion of my internship, I have grown immensely due to the efforts of my teams.

What I wish was different

I do wish that the number of people in-person in the office was a bit more balanced (office was very busy Tuesday-Thursday but fairly empty Mon/Fri) but I know that this varies for different offices. This wasn't a huge deal, but it could've been nice to be able to see more coworkers these days!

Advice

Don't be afraid to voice opinions. About 1/3 way through my internship, the associate I was working with told me that I was vocalizing good ideas to her, but seemed to keep them from my project leaders. I was nervous that I wasn't "qualified" to be having strong opinions, but once I started expressing my thoughts and ideas to my project leaders, I was given more responsibility and ownership over projects.

There were very few intern-focused events, which could have helped form a more cohesive intern group.

Advice

You have to be willing to work hard and be okay with making mistakes. Make an effort to get to know people around the office.

Great virtual social events for interns such as Ice Cream Social, Comedy Show, and Talent Show. I also learned a lot about Tableau and data visualization through my summer-long project. This internship solidified my interest in consulting and encouraged me to pursue consulting post-graduation.

What I liked

I'm able to use a lot of the practical skills I learned in undergrad when I did research with one of my sociology professors. I'm also able to apply knowledge that I learned in my major and minor to real world situations. The company is really great and offers flexible hours and I can work remote often.
