Creative Collaboration – Short Film Adaptation of “Ocean Swirled” (Base Camp Productions)
Rhode Island–based author and creative producer Alex “A.T.” Gaines is developing a short film adaptation of his original 10,000-word novelette Ocean Swirled — a romantic tragedy exploring love, class, and moral consequence.
Base Camp Productions, a new independent studio founded by Gaines, focuses on stories rooted in individual empowerment and equality of opportunity. The project seeks a co-writer or editor with strong narrative instincts and interest in screenwriting, literary adaptation, or film development to help refine, edit, and potentially co-adapt the work into screenplay form.
This collaboration offers an opportunity to engage in creative development for an independent short film, contribute to artistic direction, and gain credit/experience in adaptation and pre-production storytelling.
Ideal Candidate:
Strong background in creative writing, film, or narrative storytelling
Interest in adaptation, screenwriting, or story editing
Collaborative, communicative, and passionate about human-centered stories
Familiarity with film-making preferred; could take lead in assembling crew and shoot
Commitment & Compensation:
Flexible hours; collaboration can be remote or in person.
Compensation to be discussed (credit, stipend, and/or co-writer participation depending on scope).
