Nonfiction Intern

Proximity Media (JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH, HOMEROOM, STEPHEN CURRY: UNDERRATED, VOICES RISING: THE MUSIC OF WAKANDA FOREVER, CREED III, HURRICANE KATRINA: RACE AGAINST TIME, SINNERS) is a multi-media production company seeking a motivated, ambitious intern to support our nonfiction department. This in-person position is ideal for those interested in becoming documentary producers, directors, or executives —you must love reading, nonfiction film and television, have strong analytical writing skills, and a passion for diverse & inclusive storytelling. Previous internship experience is preferred but not required.

Please note that we accept applicants who are undergraduate juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Applicants not fitting the aforementioned requirement will not be considered. 
 

Responsibilities will include administrative support, coverage, industry research, and participation in company-wide staff meetings. Interns will have the opportunity to develop an original nonfiction pitch (documentary or docuseries) with the guidance of the nonfiction team, culminating in a presentation to Proximity executives at the end of the semester. The internship also has an educational component, including zoom lunches with Proximity executives and industry professionals. All interns must have organizational skills and a close attention to detail. 

The position is paid and begins in May 25, 2026 and ends August 14, 2026. We are currently accepting in-person applicants. Interns will work up to 24 hours a week and all interns must be available to attend full day Mondays. Interns will work at the Proximity offices in Burbank, CA, for two days a week and have the option to work remotely for one day a week.
