Full-time Residential Counselor
The counselor provides various support services to residents with psychiatric disabilities in the community residence. The counselor also trains and assists residents in the activities of daily living. Reports to the Community Residence Supervisor.
- Participate in the planning and evaluation
of individual service plans and monitor plan objectives on a regular basis.
- Write progress notes on service plan
on a weekly basis.
- Train and assist residents in the
activities of daily living including household maintenance.
- Oversee medication maintenance and
assist residents in the development of self-medication skills as needed.
- Provide case management and follow-up
service.
- Provide counseling, behavioral
intervention and crisis management service.
- Provide transportation for residents
as needed.
- May occasionally attend team meetings,
discharge meetings.
- Provide household maintenance checks
and repairs. Conduct fire drills at
community residence as needed.
- Notify the Community Residence Supervisor/Program
Manager of any medical or psychiatric emergency.
- Carry out duties of the Assistant Supervisor on an as needed basis in the event of staff vacancies or workload consideration.
Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent. A related college degree or experience in the field is preferred. Applicants are required to have a valid driver's license, access to a car, proper car insurance, and a safe driving record. The employee uses his or her own vehicle for transportation between sites and is reimbursed for mileage.
