Quogue Wildlife Refuge Internship

This is an unpaid Intern Position for maximum of 20 hours per week for an undergraduate college student studying Environmental, Educational or Animal related sciences.

 Responsibilities can include…
·       Assisting with and providing care to a variety of animals including native New York mammals and birds of prey that are residents at the Refuge due to permanent injuries, as well as a variety of non-native reptiles that reside in the Nature Center.
·       Assist with and possibly teach nature related programs to school/scout/private/ spring camp groups; educational exhibit design; assisting with general maintenance of trails, cages, tanks, and Nature Center; possible weekend staffing of the Nature Center.
·        Great opportunity to learn about the various habitats of Long Island including the Pine Barrens, freshwater ponds, bogs, saltwater marsh and the native flora & fauna found in each Long Island habitat.
·       Gain an understanding of how a non-profit organization operates.

Required: Internship includes 1 weekend day per week.
