Graduate Career Coach
The Career Center seeks 3-4 matriculated graduate students to fill our Graduate Career Coach (GCC) role for the 2021-2022 academic year. This position is excellent for someone interested in applying career development theories to practice or someone passionate about making a difference in student career development/ experiential learning. We provide graduate students with ongoing training and development.
GCCs specialize in one of the following areas:
- Career development support
- Pre Health Coaching
- International student career support
- Experiential learning and programs
- Graduate student career development
- Alumni career development
Core Responsibilities
- Offer career coaching appointments for students (3 hours per week).
- Offer resume or cover letter review and mock interviews.
- Co-lead curating our archive of career development, experiential learning, career readiness resources, and slide decks.
- Co-teach CAR 110: Career Development and Decision-Making, 3-credit course designed for first-year and sophomore students.
- Support Career Center signature events: jobs fairs and other select events/workshops.
Requirements:
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Experience in advising or have held significant leadership roles.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized/ able to multi-task, work independently and be self-directed.
- Must be able to attend training on Wednesdays 10 am-11 am.
- Must be a matriculated graduate student enrolled in a degree-granting program at Stony Brook University and eligible to work 20 hours per week from August 2021 – June 2022 (TBD).
