GARMENT DESIGNER

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Clothing Pattern Designer to create accurate, professional patterns for a new line of apparel. The ideal candidate will have experience with pattern drafting software and a strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and grading.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Develop digital sewing patterns based on provided sketches, technical drawings, or reference garments.
  2. Ensure patterns are accurate, production-ready, and appropriately graded for different sizes.
  3. Collaborate with the design team to translate creative concepts into practical pattern solutions.
  4. Provide digital files in formats compatible with Seamly2D or other specified formats.
  5. Make necessary adjustments to patterns based on feedback or test garments.
  6. Maintain clear documentation of all pattern measurements, annotations, and specifications.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Proven experience in clothing pattern design; portfolio required.
  2. Proficiency in pattern drafting software (Seamly2D, Gerber, Optitex, Clo3D, etc. with conversion ability).
  3. Strong understanding of garment construction, tailoring, and fabric behavior.
  4. Ability to communicate clearly and deliver work on schedule.
  5. Attention to detail and precision in measurements and technical execution.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

 

  1. Experience with custom sizing or made-to-measure designs.
  2. Familiarity with sustainable fashion principles or technical apparel.
  3. Basic knowledge of fashion illustration or tech pack creation.

 

DELIVERABLES

 

  1. Production-ready patterns (base size and graded sizes).
  2. Annotated PDFs, SVGs, VSTs, VALs, VITs, etc.
  3. Optional: Mock-up or fitting suggestions.

  5. Pay: $31,200.00 - $52,000.00 per year ($15.00 - $25.00 per hour, tiered payment structure: increased hourly rate for additional hours worked).
