Water Resources Intern

May - August 2018 • Plattsburgh, NY

What I liked

There wasn't anything I didn't like, I was able to visit water and wastewater treatment plants which got me in the field at least once per week for the entire summer. When I was in the office, I sorted through data, and made figures and tables for technical reports. Using AutoCad Civil 3D to make a hydraulic profile of a wastewater treatment plant was one of my favorite parts and at the end of the summer I presented my designs of a replacement sewer system to a client which was a great experience.

What I wish was different

The only difference I would want is to have been able to come into my internship with a bit more knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, but everyone there was really great about teaching me how to use the program so there isn't much I would change.

Advice

The effort that I put into this internship was the reward I got in return. Being self motivated to get tasks done efficiently while not losing any of attention to detail is critical in being successful and learning as much as you can in one summer.
