AgWest Farm Credit

Learning and Development Intern

June - August 2020 • Spokane, WA

What I liked

Despite the fact we are living in a pandemic, NWFCS did everything to give me an internship experience. The whole internship was online and they provided with the necessary technology to work during the duration of this temporal position from home.

What I wish was different

The actual internship wasn't the one I originally applied for. It was in a totally different industry. Nevertheless, it was a great experience and I would do it gain.

Advice

If life gives you lemons, make some lemonade.

What I liked

Northwest Farm Credit is an amazing company! They are big in employee engagement and make you truly feel cared about. Their internship is very hands and offers opportunities to explore different parts of the company. They provide a chance to network throughout NWFCS and want their interns to get hired on permanently at the end of the internship. Highly recommend!

What I wish was different

Nothing so far!

Advice

It is a competitive application process, but so worth it!

What I liked

My summer internship was great! Although everything was online, the company tried their best to get us interns involved whether that was various tasks, learning processes of the business, meeting with people from different departments, or listening in on meetings. Even though this Summer was very different due to the circumstances, Northwest made us feel like we were truly wanted there. They supplied us with equipment to work from home, they kept in touch constantly to see how we are doing, and they kept us involved even though we were remote.

What I wish was different

I wish that we would have had the opportunity to work in person, however that was not in the control of the company, so overall I am just thankful that they did not cancel the internship.

Advice

If you are someone that values a company that cares about and takes care of their employees, then Northwest is the place for you. I was blown away by how much they did for us interns during such a weird and difficult time.

Risk Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Spokane, WA

What I liked

Structure, great company culture, learning opportunities, value behind the work

What I wish was different

Since I was working in a specific department, I didn't get to have much interaction with customers, and that would have been beneficial.

Advice

Voice what you want to learn during the internship, they will make it happen.
