Alabama Productivity Center

About Alabama Productivity Center

In an effort to improve economic development in the state of Alabama, the Alabama Productivity Center was established on January 1, 1986, on the University of Alabama campus. The mission of the APC is to focus research and educational resources on the enhancement of productivity and quality within Alabama businesses and the state's industry.

APC provides paid internship opportunities for students at various companies across the state of Alabama.  Students work on-site at their assigned company in various cities in Alabama while being supported by the APC staff.  Fall and Spring internships are usually 20 hours/week while students also take classes.  Summer internships are typically 40 hours/week.  Interns work to enhance the company’s productivity, quality, and sustainability.  Through this internship program, students are able to explore career opportunities, understand the nature of industry, and acquire valuable skills not taught in the classroom.  APC, established in 1986, is an outreach center of The University of Alabama and is part of the Alabama Technology Network (ATN).
