Alamo Colleges District

Researcher

May - August 2020 • San Antonio, TX

What I liked

I enjoyed the presentations from many fields involved with STEM and the helpfulness of peer mentors and faculty mentors.

What I wish was different

I only wish that we would've been able to be on-site when conducting research.

Advice

I would advise anyone joining CIMA, to utilize all your resources regardless if the mentor is in a different field.

Peer Mentor for CIMA-LSAMP program

June 2019 • University of Texas, TX

What I liked

I liked interacting with students and helping them organize their projects for the annual symposium in August.

What I wish was different

I was hired in June, immediately ensuing the sudden resignation of the other peer mentors who were supposed to complete the summer program that year. I missed the first week of the program, and I wish I hadn't.

Advice

I would say to be adaptable; each researcher was different and needed a different amount of attention.
