Allegheny County Airport Authority

Airport Operations Intern

May - August 2019 • Pittsburgh, PA

What I liked

I loved being able to have hands-on experience that let me put everything I was learning in school to the test. It allowed me to learn things that you can't get from a classroom which is real world experience. I also loved how interesting and unique it is to work at an airport, every day is different!

What I wish was different

I wish my internship was more structured. There was lots of days that I felt bored or wasn't given anything to do/learn.

Advice

In terms of my take away from a summer internship is always try to keep learning new things throughout the whole summer and be eager and excited to do even the simplest tasks. Also, don't be shy to make connections and keep in contact with them even after the internship is over! Even if you don't want to go back to work there, they might be able to give a good word about you on your behalf to a future employer.
