Allied Cooperative

Crop Scout

May - August 2018 • Plainfield, WI

What I liked

I liked that I got to kind of be the behind the scenes person when it comes to different crops. I liked that what we were doing was making a difference and what we said was actually being taken in to consideration when we would go out into the fields and then write up a crop scout report.

What I wish was different

I do not think that there was anything that I wish would be different.

Advice

If you are person that can work on their own or with another person, can communicate really well, and likes to work outside then this would be the job for you.

Feed Operations/ Sales

May 2019 • West Salem, WI

What I liked

The work environment was tremendous I learned a lot and got to meet some great new people. My co-workers made everyday repetition fun, no matter how bad the day was going.

What I wish was different

I wish that my internship experience followed the guidelines that me and my supervisor discussed, but other factors affected that and made it impossible.

Advice

One piece of advice I would like to share about my experience is do not be afraid to discuss what you want to get out of your internship and push for it with your supervisor. They are busy people, but the more you converse with them and show them that you care, the more willing they areto guide you in the right direction.

Crop Scout Intern

May - August 2019 • Plainfield, WI

What I liked

During my internship, I was able to experience and learn A LOT. Many of these opportunities were outside of my comfort zone and knowledge base, but my supervisors were more than willing to teach me and guide me through it. I liked being able to go into it with just the willingness to learn, and come out with a much wider knowledge base on the crops I scouted.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I cannot complain about much, other than I wish we could have explored different areas of the Cooperative more.

Advice

My advice is to not be afraid to get outside of your comfort zone and put yourself in a position to learn new information. You will always feel more confident in the end!
