Worked with many smart people from whom I learned a lot by watching and asking questions. Going to meetings I also learned a lot about the nature of the industry in addition to the science. I worked on a hands on project that I could work independently and ask questions and receive guidance as well as step by step instructions on how to achieve the goal.
What I wish was different
I wished that I could learn more from engineers and people with more math based knowledge. I worked with mostly chemists and biologists. As much as I enjoy the science work more then the engineering control and design I wish that I had the opportunity apply some of my fundamental cheme coursework like thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer and separations modeling.
Advice
Ask as many questions as you can. Take time to meet with as many people as possible and learn about their background and their perspective and advise. Internship is an opportunity for a lot of learning. Although, it is different from the learning at school, it is very useful to expand your perspective as a student.
