Sales Intern

May - August 2019 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

The internship allowed the sales intern to both gain leads and close sales. Many sales internships only let employees gain leads for senior sales reps., not allowing them to gain the full potential experience. We were paid commission for both renewing accounts and establishing new accounts- which was very beneficial in understanding how the world of sales work.

Internal Audit Intern

April - August 2018 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

I loved that I was able to stay with Cincinnati Bell in their Internal Audit Department after having two previous internship rotations within their Corporate Accounting Department as a Financial Reporter. I loved the experience of the testing controls so that the company was Sarbanes-Oakley compliant and also gaining the experience of acquiring a company and building newer controls around their processes since the company that was acquired was not previously Sarbanes-Oakley compliant because they were a Canadian company.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was able to work longer with my supervisor, but unfortunately he accepted another offer with a different company after a month into my rotation. He was in corporate accounting, but had taken the role of internal audit manager while I was back in classes for a semester and offered the position for me to return as an internal audit intern because of the work ethic I had during my rotation in the corporate accounting department. Other than that my fellow coworkers were amazing and I couldn't have asked for any more from this experience, hint the reason why I stayed around for over a year and a half with them!

Advice

One piece of advice I would give about my experience is that no matter what you do during college try to at least gain one professional experience during your time here at The University of Cincinnati because not only did I gain a exceptional experience and knowledge in accounting, I also had the privilege of networking with so many professionals that can help me upon graduation.
