Software Engineering Intern

June - September 2018 • Sunnyvale, CA

What I liked

I loved working in a software engineering team at one of the largest software companies in the world. My project was interesting and I learned many technical skills. In addition to technical skills, I also learned numerous life skills that would be useful in the workplace, such as how to disagree with colleagues or how to approach a manager. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!

What I wish was different

I wish that the Intern Showcase would've been at the end of my internship (so I would've been able to show my final product), rather than at the midpoint of my internship. I would've also liked a few more company perks, specifically free food!

Advice

One piece of advice would be to work hard and ask questions, but not too many questions. At the career stage that I am currently in, it is more important to dive deep into concepts and self-learn, rather than ask numerous questions about a particular technology or framework. This is one area of improvement that my manager gave me, and I think it is important advice for any aspiring software engineer.

Technical Program Manager Intern

What I liked

Extremely friendly team, well defined roll, enjoyable work.

What I wish was different

I had applied as a firmware engineer and was hired as a totally different role. It was ok in the end, but not what I expected.
