Community Assistant

March 2019 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

I gained a lot of customer service experience and got a lot of opportunities to be a leader.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more training in leasing before I was put in the office.

Advice

I would say that you should always be asking questions! Don’t be afraid to ask because it’s better than messing up since we handle legal documents.

Community Assistant

May 2019 • Kent, OH

What I liked

I like the flexibility and atmosphere. They spend a lot of time and money helping their CA's be successful and happy students and it makes a difference.

What I wish was different

A job requirement is going through a 3 week apartment flipping period called Turn, where you work 12-15 hours a day for 21 days straight. It is a difficult three weeks.

Advice

Just keep your goals in mind and help everyone as much as you can when working in a stressful environment. This can make it easier on everyone, including yourself.

leasing agent/community Assistant

May 2018 • Mankato, MN

What I liked

Yes it a great learning experience and im glad I had the opportunity to be a part of the team.

What I wish was different

The training process. There want really a set training schedule or criteria when I started working there so it took a while for me to learn the ropes, way longer then if I would have been trained properly.

Advice

Take it slow and don't try to learn everything at once because you are always learning even if youve been working there for years something new always comes up or a process changes so be ready to learn.

Community Assistant

June 2018 • Fort Collins, CO

What I liked

The experience gained in legal contracts as well as skills gained through face to face interaction.

What I wish was different

Management is consistently confused and often times leaving us to the wolves. Most CAs felt they were underpaid and overworked. No one CA has ever had the desire to move up the hierarchy with American Campus Communities under the management at this location.

Advice

Understand that even though the work may be difficult, that your self discovery will make you understand the importance of work place cohesiveness and customer satisfaction.
