I wish I would have been able to finish a couple projects, but the timing did not workout.

Information Technology Administration Internship

May 2018 • Columbus, WI

What I liked

American Packaging Corporation is a great company that focuses on family and personal advancement. They prioritize education, creativity, and forward movement in the world of packaging. I enjoy the safe and creative environment along with the high level of professionalism everyone shows.

What I wish was different

Obviously COVID has put a wrench in the ability for lots of work to take place. The amount of projects was limited due to this.

Advice

It is worth working for a company that makes products that you see in stores. Working for any company that you would personally buy from or buy products they have a hand in making allows the work you do to feel much more worthwhile and important.

Human Resources Intern

December 2020 • Story City, IA

What I liked

My internship at American Packaging has had a huge positive impact on my life. I have grown so much through the year because of the opportunity to learn. My boss's and coworkers are my second family and continue to support and guide me in my HR goals.

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have found an opportunity like this internship sooner. Internships are a great way to develop skills and build a more complex resume. The more experience the better.

Advice

My company has really taught me how I want to be treated in a work environment. If I ever change jobs in the future, I will have a hard time settling for anything less than what I have now. The work environment I have now is something I didn't realize was possible, so never stop looking for that right fit.

Summer Quality Intern

June - August 2018 • Rochester, NY

What I liked

Support and oversight from boss(es), responsibility involved with the job, opportunity to do work that was important in the scope of the company as a whole.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had more knowledge on the subject before entering the job, so that I would have spent less time on learning the job and more on actually working.

Advice

It's important to develop communication skills applicable to the workplace, and to hone your ability to learn and adapt to certain situations that you're required to do but haven't had any formal training on.
