Orientation Leader

March - August 2018 • Washington, DC

What I liked

This position encourages you to take a lot of responsibility and gives you a fair amount of control over interacting with incoming students. Training is thorough enough that you will feel ready for those responsibilities by the time the first session starts. Individual and group mentorship with the students is a very rewarding experience.

What I wish was different

I hope that a few structural parts of the program change in order to streamline the orientation schedule, mainly regarding the presentations that other offices on campus give during the sessions.

Advice

Don't be afraid to reach out and talk to someone else on the team if you're having an issue with a certain part of the job. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses and you'll definitely be able to find someone to walk you through whatever it is you need extra help or practice with doing.
