Human Resources Intern

May - August 2019 • Evansville, IN

What I liked

I enjoyed having such a large role in the recruitment process. I learned how to review applications, interview candidates and all of the onboarding tasks for each new employee. Through this internship I gained useful communication skills that will benefit me in all aspects of my future career in Human Resources. I loved growing a relationship with my superiors as well as the production workers.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have learned a bit more about Microsoft excel. There were some tasks and projects I was given, several to create a spreadsheet, and I knew I could have made them better had I more experience and knowledge with excel.

Advice

Ask as many questions as you can! An internship is designed for the intern to ask questions, they're not supposed to know everything! If you don't ask you may never get the answer, so I think that asking questions is one of the best pieces of advice. Also, if applicable, go above and beyond what is asked of you! The manager of you during your internship could just be the key to a future job/career, you never know where life will take you. So, being a superstar at work could reap more benefits than just personal satisfaction.
