Customer Service Agent

October 2020 • American Fork, UT

What I liked

I have been working here as a customer service agent since October. From the beginning I could tell that AMP had a fun work environment, and most important to me, they truly care about their employees. Not only that, but they also have so many opportunities to progress and you could really have a career here if you wanted to.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had started here sooner. I was scared to work at a call center because I heard so many customer service related horror stories. Now that I have been here for as long as I have, I can say that customer service is not nearly as bad as I had thought.

Advice

I do not have any advice.

What I liked

The atmosphere here is unlike anything else! The people you work with make you feel welcomed and they are very open to anyone working here, even if you have little to no call-center experience. It is tough work but makes it worth it! Very flexible with your college schedule and can be good for both short-term and long-term.

What I wish was different

Wish I had gotten better management a lot sooner. I had been here for a while and over the last year or so is when it's really gotten a lot better.

Advice

If you can't handle talking to people, this isn't for you.

Retention Agent

October 2019 • American Fork, UT

What I liked

AMP Smart has given me ample opportunities to build my interpersonal and leadership skills. I love working here, especially in my department because we not only work well together, but we're friends. AMP does a fantastic job at making people feel welcome, and everyone here is nice. Upper management listens, notes, and then acts when we bring issues to them.

What I wish was different

My experience is slightly different than a normal customer service agent, but I would like more flexibility with hours. That isn't really doable because our company is only open 7am-7pm, but longer working hours would be nice for us and the customers.

Advice

Be openminded and willing to receive constructive feedback. Make friends and put in your best effort.

The work environment is very friendly and its great to work here career wise. Being able to learn how security works is really satisfying in my opinion. If you want to grow personally and within the company. This place is right for you.

What I wish was different

Personally I have not run into any sort of issues lately with the company. So far they have really great communication!

Advice

If you are not ready to handle other people frustrations, make sure you are prepared. Remember that they are frustrated with the company if there is ever a mistake, not with you. They provide de escalation tactics that help out a lot with these phone calls.

What I liked

Getting real life experience that would take years of schooling to achieve. The management team at AMP really care about you and want to help you. They went out of their way to make sure I had the best summer experience. I took this internship originally for college credit, little did i know this was the best decision of my life.

What I wish was different

I wish I could of had more training before I came out. They started a training program the following year which help a ton even for me.

Advice

Go and travel, there is so much more to the world you had no idea about. Take every opportunity you get because there may not be a next time. And lastly everything happens for a reason.

Sales Rep

April 2020 • Austin, TX

What I liked

This job changed my life. Prior to doing this I used to work at a bar here at WVU. Usually would go home dirty, tired, sweaty, and with no money. This job has given me financial freedom to focus on my school work and to continue to get good grades. Brandon Cesare and Chris Bolen hired me and have been in charge of managing me ever since. Couldn't be more thankful for the opportunity they have given me to get paid sales training, mental fitness growth, and financial literacy.

What I wish was different

I just wish I had more information about what this was going into the job. But that's really no ones fault but my own because I didn't ask questions. That's also not meant to be negative either and doesn't necessarily mean it will be the same for you. This is just my personal experience and what I should've been more adamant about. As a college kid that's never really stepped inside corporate America before, you don't really know what to ask about anyway.

Advice

There's always going to be growing pains with whatever you do. You're always going to be the new guy or girl somewhere. That feeling of the grass being greener on the other side is always going to be prevalent when you fail or take a loss. Just something to keep in mind whether this is something you decide to do or not. I think it's very valuable advice that this job specifically has taught me

Sales intern

May - October 2020 • Austin, TX

What I liked

I have worked a couple of different office-based internships throughout my time in college and was looking for something different that would push me out of my comfort zone as that is where I see the most growth in my life and career. AMP Smart did just that and has elevated me in so many different aspects of my life. The training program they have helped me learn the sales process in just a few weeks so that I was able to sell on my own. The main takeaways I had from my summer internship with AMP include improving my communication skills, boosting my confidence, learning how to build meaningful relationships with complete strangers, learning how to give a sales presentation and control the conversation in a very seamless way. The culture at AMP Smart is one of the best I have experienced. Everyone in the office becomes very close. I am still very close friends with the people I met to this day. The leaders in the office go out of their way to get to know you as a person and find different ways to motivate and challenge you throughout the summer. The job is very challenging however the management finds creative ways to push you further and make the job more exciting. The connections I have made and the opportunity to network is priceless. This is a group of entrepreneurial-minded individuals who are self-motivated and inspire you to pursue what you are passionate about in life.

What I wish was different

This job is not for everyone. The work is a grind but once you get over the learning curve, you can have fun with the job and meet so many great people. If I had to change one thing I would have had more training or ways to help those that were struggling to learn the sales process.

Advice

Buy into the process and training if you are going to try sales. Sales is not for everyone but if you are open-minded, hard-working, and are willing to learn you will see success.

Marketing Intern

May 2018 • Nashville, TN

What I liked

I started working with AMP back in 2018. I wrote my original review after my first year. The main thing I love with AMP is the changes that has been made over the past few years. They have went above and beyond my expectations for a summer internship. I love that everyone wants to see you succeed. With sales it can be very competitive but AMP makes it fun with incentives. I love the skills I have gotten from doing this internship. I have always been social but after my first year I joined more clubs and took leadership positions. I was able to support myself and become more independent. I was also paying 100% of all my bills though out college as well as buy a new car. This internship changed my life and allowed me to build a bigger picture in my life.

What I wish was different

I wish we could of had the training program we have now back when I first started. Many interns in the past did not get the right training, which caused many to leave to early. They couldn’t figure it out and saw no hope. With the proven training program we have now, I am still learning along with the college interns. It make it possible for people with no sales experience to succeed.

Advice

This internship changed my life in so many ways. It opened doors for me and pushed me to be a better person. There is so many things I have learned over the years and I can’t wait to keep learning. If you need a opportunity that can challenge you, push you, make you a better person, to open doors for you, to have something to do/ write on your resume, do it. I promise you with the new proven training they imply now, you won’t regret it.

Marketing/Sales

May - September 2020 • Indianapolis, IN

What I liked

I have made this post before, but I just wanted to add on because I can't stress how important This internship was to me. This job was very hands on. I have had several internships in the past where the employer gave me a list of to do's and expected me to learn it myself. Then when I would havea question they would get upset. That is not the case with this company they give you the tools to be successful and walk you through every step until you're comfortable completely the job by yourself. The atmosphere is fun and they make it competitive to bring out the competitive edge in everyone. They give out a lot of incentives to earn free gear, Tv's, trips, and much more. I also enjoyed our team culture. I was living a healthy lifestyle all summer and they gave the tools necessary to continue to do so. Lastly, they taught me how to leverage my assets, how to invest, and how to build a business. These lessons spoke volumes to me and they made me feel valued versus being another number like most corporate jobs.

What I wish was different

I honestly can't think of anything that I would change. If anything, there were times that the managers could have been a little more organized, but we're all human and life gets the best of us. I loved the whole experience.

Advice

It's not a get rich quick scheme. It requires hard work and dedication. If you don't have those don't even waste your time or theirs. However, the rewards are insane. I got to hang out with millionaires and future millionaires on a DAILY basis. You become what you surround yourself with. Most of these negative reviews I've seen on here are people that probably quick early on in the program or half way through. They could've had a poor work ethic or could've been lazy too. I know everyone in my office loved what we did this summer, had fun, and grew as individuals. I can't wait to come back this summer 2021!

Sales

May - June 2020 • Plano, TX

What I liked

Decent amount of training & preparation. Management tried to provide encouragement and incentive for hard work. Got to live with people on the job.

What I wish was different

Regional manager caused a lot of drama throughout the office. Led to some toxic work environment. Felt smothered (not much freedom in the field). Evident favoritism shown to high-performers. Was guilt-tripped when quit.

Advice

Know that you’re signing up for the entire summer, but if after you’re in it for some time you feel set on quitting, while you should be open-minded and listen to objective reasoning, don’t feel like you’re trapped and have no choice.

Marketing Intern

May - September 2020 • Indianapolis, IN

What I liked

I liked how I was able to control how much I made. My work reflected on the pay scale. I liked being able to help families and make a difference in the community while still learning a lot about marketing and sales.

What I wish was different

We did a lot of team events, however, more events wouldn't hurt. It was a great experience. I wouldn't change a thing!

Advice

This experience is what you make it. That goes with anything in life. You have to be comfortable with getting uncomfortable. That will allow you to change and grow as an individual. I can't stress how much I've grown during this experience. I was able to expand my communication skills, learned how to build value, and was able to build my confidence.

Sales Consultant

May - July 2018 • Thornton, CO

What I liked

I loved Colorado! I love to travel and explore so that along with the opportunity to make commission was the biggest draw towards this position.

What I wish was different

I wish that we had more fun team activities. We were really on our own. The job itself was grueling, they wanted 60 hours of work or more out of us and 6 days a week. On our one day off, Sunday, I was exhausted and then I had to do all my errands by bus or Uber and get ready for the next 60 hour work week. That plus a better compensation model that incorporated some base pay. None of my team from Albany made a single cent while work this internship. I learned a lot but I paid a high price for the experience. I wouldn’t do this or anything like this again.

Advice

Don’t overpack! That’s just good traveling advice in general. If you have direct sales experience then this may be for you. The one person that did probably ended the summer with at least 7-8 grand. However, the work is hard, the days are long, and if you’re not a salesperson you may not find this type of job in general fulfilling.
