What I liked

I was able to learn about identifying and controlling weeds, fungi, and diseases in a variety of different crops such as sugar beets, kidney beans, corn, rye, and oats. I liked that I was able to learn how to operate digital agriculture software such as Climate Fieldview and My John Deere. I liked that I was given quite a bit of independence and it was up to me to make timely applications on the crops.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was able to learn more about the business side of farming and the marketing of crops.

Advice

If you are going for a degree in agriculture and you did not grow up on a farm, you should spend one summer working for a farm. You will learn a lot of new ideas and concepts that will help you further your career in the agriculture industry.
