The challenging and hands-on environment that I worked in that both allowed me to build up skills I already had and that was able to teach me new skills.
What I wish was different
I do wish that I had been given a greater role in research and development projects in terms of the engineering side of things.
Advice
It's important to get a feel for a field with actual experiences. Being able to see first-hand what engineers do day in and day out really helped me understand the profession and showed me what I need to do in order to a good engineer in the future.
