Summer Associate

June - July 2019 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I felt very respected as an intern, and people really took time to explain things to me. I also loved the rotational nature of the position. Because Ankura is a small firm, it was easy to meet people at many levels, and talk to them about their careers.

What I wish was different

As is the nature of consulting, there are definitely slow and fast times, and unfortunately there was a time in which I felt like I had very little work and wasn't being utilized to my full potential. This definitely depends though, and varies by group and by client work.

Advice

Definitely be proactive, and speak to as many of the senior managers that you can during the short internship time period. Most of the senior leadership was very approachable and willing to give you advice about your career path even if it didn't involve you staying at the firm.
