Aptiv

Data Analysis Assistant

June - August 2018 • Las Vegas, NV

What I liked

I liked that they moved me across the county for the summer, and introduced me to the emerging world of self driving cars. The people were amazing and the company took care of their employees very well. I learned a lot about how self driving cars worked and the very important and intensive testing involved with creating one that would be safe for the public consumption. It was amazing to also work with Lyft and Uber a lot, because our self driving cars were doing rides around the Las Vegas strip for actual customers!

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten to go on more test drives in the self driving cars, I only got to go on about 15. It would have been nicer if it wasn't in Las Vegas in the middle of summer as well, very hot!

Advice

Enjoy it to the fullest! This is a multi billion dollar international company that has thousands of jobs available to someone in any major or concentration. very interesting and changes your world view

Operations Intern

May - August 2019 • Auburn Hills, MI

What I liked

Aptiv gave me the chance to take on an additional project outside of the scope of my original role. This gave me the chance to really get a diverse experience and build on all of the skills that I wanted to going into the role. Aptiv also did a good job exposing their interns to other parts of the business through lunch and learns and other social events.

What I wish was different

When I first started there wasn't a clear direction as to what I was going to be working on so this was a little frustrating, but HR was awesome at working through this with me. Also I was in the Connection Systems division of the company which sometimes felt excluded from the overall company goals and presentations.

Advice

I would say don't be afraid to ask for change. I was unhappy with a single project and so I went to HR and the Mechanical Engineering Lead and asked for an additional project. While there was some time management needed to balance these two projects, I was able to get the experience that I wanted out of the summer.

Sales Analyst Intern

April 2017 • Troy, MI

What I liked

Interning at Delphi was one of the best internship experiences that I could have ever hoped for. Everyone is very kind and they take the time to go over things in order to help me better understand how the business works. I have learned so much already and am so excited to keep expanding upon my skills.

What I wish was different

There is honestly nothing that I would want to change.

Advice

My advice for a future intern is to always ask questions. The internship experience is so much better if you show that you are interested in learning about the business!
