Arizona Game and Fish Department

Colorado River Basin Native Aquatic Species Intern

May - August 2022 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

I really enjoyed working outdoors and performing hands-on tasks in the field. Collecting data and seeing real world examples of what I have been learning in my classes at Carthage was so incredible.

What I wish was different

I wouldn’t change anything about this job opportunity.

Advice

One piece of advice I would give to future student looking for internships is to try something outside of your comfort zone and apply for as many opportunities as you can! Trying new things can be super rewarding.

What I liked

I loved the job experience, learning all the things Game and Fish does for our state wildlife and environment. Wildlife Research Intern

May - August 2018 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

This internship allowed for hands-on field experience on a research project, which helped to build both field skills and research skills when it comes to working with wildlife.

What I wish was different

The fact that it was an outdoors internship in Arizona during the summer meant that it was difficult to combat the heat while getting the field work done.

Advice

My advice would be to buy in as best as you can, because if you are invested in what you are researching you will get more out of it.
