Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield

Group Marketing and Member Engagement intern

June - August 2021 • Little Rock, AR

What I liked

The company culture was amazing, I felt like a part of the team despite being there for such a short time. The internship program was a great way to network with people in your field, upper management within the company and even other professionals around the nation. I even got the opportunity to apply for an academic scholarship which I won, my experience could not have been better!

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had more time to interact with the people in corporate marketing, but the pandemic limited these interactions since the position was mostly remote.

Advice

Keep connecting with people even after you have left the position! I still am in touch with my manager and developed a good professional relationship with my team.

Actuarial Intern

May - August 2019 • Little Rock, AR

What I liked

I love that I feel important and very visible at the company. We have luncheons with executives and other interns every week. We have free lunch and team building exercise day to get to know other interns and improve leadership and communication skills. The first day of my work, a morning buffet party was thrown for me, so that everyone in my department can get to know me and vice versa. At the end of the internship, there was also a big luncheons where about 100 people including executives and faculty members of some big university in Arkansas attending. I was also blessed and lucky enough to receive the only $5,000 intern scholarship to fund for the following year at UALR.

What I wish was different

I can be more proactive, and reach out to people for help. I was afraid about my silly questions, but my boss and my co-workers are expecting that.

Advice

Apply and enjoy your internship.
