I like the experience I had working with Austin and their professionalism in the interview process
What I wish was different
I wish the internship was longer
Advice
Try to get as many internships as possible throughout your academic career because these internships are really valuable and you learn so much

Administrative Assistant Intern
May 2021 • San Francisco, CA
What I liked
I like how professional the atmosphere was and the team I got to work with. It opened my eyes to real life experiences that can be applied to the business classes I am learning now. My supervisors and team members set me up to succeed and are always there to help me.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have actually been in their intern program, and got to meet more people. Unfortunately, with COVID, there were not a lot of people who went into the office, so I worked alone most of my days in the office.
Advice
I would advise to be proactive and put yourself out there in order to stand out. It is one thing to be a yes-man/woman, but you should try and integrate yourself more in the work you are doing.

Project Intern
June 2019 • Dallas, TX
What I liked
I was given real-world responsibilities and tasks and treated like a full-time employee.
What I wish was different
They made it more of a summer class with other various tasks that were beneficial but time-consuming.
Advice
Take it as serious as you want a career/job with the company and they will treat you with the same respect.

Project Intern
May - August 2019 • Austin, TX
What I liked
Scope of work, culture, and exposure
What I wish was different
Partial gas stipend to compensate for the commute to and from Austin every work day.
Advice
Ask to be figuratively thrown in the fire. Sometimes the best learning experience is what you get from the worst experience. The more you learn the more you earn, and the more exposure you have the more you'll learn. Austin Commercial is a fantastic company and went out of their way to give me any exposure I wanted.

Construction Management Intern
May - September 2019 • Dallas, TX
What I liked
The best part of my experience was the chance to gain real world knowledge within the construction industry through hands-on building, behind the scenes submittal processes, and company management that proved to be the most beneficial.
What I wish was different
Nothing.
Advice
Find a company with an exceptional reputation, secure an internship opportunity with them, and give them the absolute best effort you have to offer. Make an impression, get your hands dirty, and never be afraid to ask questions.
