Avera

CNA

May 2019 • Mitchell, SD

What I liked

I loved the change of pace this CNA position offered me. As a home health and hospice CNA, I was able to see situations and cases that I would never have seen in a nursing home or hospital setting. This job not only helped me strengthen my CNA skills, but it also affirmed my belief that I was doing what I wanted and I was pursuing the right career field.

Nurse Clinical Intern

May 2019 • Sioux Falls, SD

What I liked

I really loved how this experience mimicked my actual career. Clinical and other experiences offered from school don't provide a realistic experience because we generally end earlier or miss out on report. I appreciate the opportunity to practice new skills, get used to the charting system, and be mentored by the same person each day.

What I wish was different

I would have appreciated an opportunity to experience other floors/units.

Advice

What you put in is what you get out of the experience. Always ask questions and stay interested.

What I liked

I liked learning more about the degree I am studying, HIM. I thought the change of pace and duties was refreshing.

What I wish was different

I wish the hospital I interned at was closer to where I lived, but it was usually only a 20 minute drive each day.

What I liked

Avera is a great place to work the people are amazing, and the work is so rewarding.
