Investment Banking Summer Analyst
June - July 2021 • Madrid, Madrid
What I liked
What I liked about the real Investment banking experience was the people I worked with. Everyone was super motivated and super efficient, and that was very motivating to me because I had to be at the level of my teammates. I believe this made me a better person as a whole, since I am accountable for my performance on a day to day basis.
Something else that I personally enjoyed a lot was that the learning curve was very shallow. You would learn a lot ever single day, and it was very rewarding to see how I started out knowing very little and by the end of the internship I was helping in more relevant and important tasks.
What I wish was different
Investment banking is very hierarchical in nature and everyone is very busy at all times. I wished my seniors would have been more available because I know they were incredibly experienced, and I would have loved to learn more from them.
Advice
Keep calm and be confident about what you are doing. If you are not confident about what you are doing, ask for help. Real deals depend on the quality of your work, so you must develop an ability to spot mistakes quickly.
