I liked my team of coworkers and managers, bartenders, and chefs. They were fun to work with. I also enjoyed the communication aspect of being a server and aiding to a great experience at Bartaco.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had created a set schedule for myself instead of a randoms schedule so I did not have to find shift covers when I needed them. Sometimes I was over scheduled and I felt overworked.
Advice
One thing I think everyone should do at least for some point in their life is to work in the service industry. It helps with your interpersonal communication skills, patience, time management skills, etc.

Hostess
July 2015 - August 2019 • Reston, VA
What I liked
The staff was one of the best to work with. Amazing managers. Flexible schedule as a host, food runner, and to-go counter. My favorite part of working at the Reston location is that everyone really is like a family there.
What I wish was different
I wish we had two hostesses during our dinner rush instead of one and a manager. And also, I wish we used the add-ins on our hostess seating app. It could have made the process of seating guests more efficient and we could know which server is next in rotation to be seated. Lastly, I wish we used walky-talkies and headsets to communicate with managers and chefs without having to wander around looking for them and leaving the host stand unattended.
Advice
Bartaco values customer service unlike anywhere else I have worked. if you are one to get angry and fed-up easily at customers, the job might not be for you.
