Marketing Intern

August - December 2024 • Radnor, PA

What I liked

Interning at BASE this past semester was an incredibly rewarding and impactful experience for me. I was able to foster valuable relationships with mentors who truly cared about me personally, as well as were invested in my professional growth. They made sure I got everything I could out of the internship, offering guidance on resume building, networking, and helping me align my work with my career goals. Their genuine support made a huge difference in my development. Everyone at BASE is driven, passionate, and committed to the business, and this energy was contagious and truly inspiring. I really enjoyed working in a small, startup environment because I felt as though the work I was doing was making a valuable contribution to the team and that I played a significant role. Being part of a close-knit team also meant that I had the opportunity to get involved in a variety of behind-the-scenes operations, which gave me a deeper understanding of the industry. The company culture at BASE is very supportive and inclusive. Even as an intern, I felt respected and like an equal member of the team. The team also understood the demands of being a full-time student and worked with our schedules to make sure we had a good work-life balance. We also had opportunities to collaborate with the fellow interns on cohort projects which were valuable opportunities to be creative and showcase our unique skills while contributing to projects that were of great value to the sales team. Overall, I would highly recommend taking a role at BASE if you want to be immersed in a startup with an awesome work atmosphere, with a fun, hard-working, and passionate team. I’m grateful for my time here and would gladly recommend this internship to anyone interested in the sports marketing field!

What I wish was different

One thing that could have been different was I wish during my first week, there was a more comprehensive explanation of exactly what BASE does, what events they have coming up, what deals they have coming in, and exactly what their role is in facilitating partnerships. I found that I was just getting a good grasp of everything as my experience went on (which of course is expected to a certain degree), and wish I was given a more extensive overview and more materials to look at right from the beginning, as I think that would have given me a more smooth transition into the role.

Advice

A piece of advice I would share if you decide to take a role at BASE, is to advocate for yourself and ask for what you want. If you are interested in learning about a different side of the business, they will gladly let you sit in on calls or provide you with the materials to give you access to whatever knowledge you wish to acquire. Let them in on your career/professional goals because they will happily help you network with people they know in other industries, give advice about resume building, and assist in setting you up for success when you leave BASE. Be a hard-working and driven intern who is truly invested in the business' success, and have genuine curiosity and the intention to continually learn and grow, because the team will truly acknowledge and appreciate it.

Data Analytics Intern

May - August 2023 • Amherst, MA

What I liked

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience working for BASE throughout the summer. My bosses were both amazing to work with and were always readily available for any questions or concerns that I had. I was really pleased with the type of work I was being assigned to do. I could see that my contribution was actually impactful and I wasn't simply doing "busy work" like I've heard from countless other internship experiences. It made me feel that I was making a great contribution to the company and only further motivated me to do my best work. While the internship was unpaid, I feel that I gained more than what money could offer. Being a rising senior in college, I was extremely grateful for the connections and guidance my bosses offered. I was given the opportunity to speak with multiple different professionals in my fields of interest. Overall it was a great experience and I definitely recommend interning for BASE.

What I wish was different

Nothing. Multiple meeting a week speaking directly with my boss. I was able to schedule every meeting around the summer job I was working simultaneously. Couldn't have asked for more.

Advice

I would advise to take advantage of what this internship is offering, a chance to gain REAL work experience and well as all of the guidance, resume help, and connections.
