Intern, Technology Innovation

May - August 2018 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

The team I spent the summer with brought the innovative culture of a startup to a fortune 100 company. We were constantly working with new technologies and partnering with emerging and established companies across the globe to help improve our business and grow our brands. The environment I was in really made me feel like I was part of the team and I was given valuable work to do with real world impacts. There was also a very structured internship program that gave me the opportunity to learn about new roles within the company as well share ideas and experiences directly with upper management.

What I wish was different

The nature of my internship and the team I worked on had me in more of an analyst than a technical developer role. I thoroughly enjoyed the work I did and the team I was on, but I wish I had been given more opportunities to exercise my programming skills.

Advice

L Brands is especially receptive to employees who are willing to learn and grow within the company. Having passion for what you do and the ability to thrive in uncomfortable situations where you are put to the test will take you a long way. Most importantly, don't be afraid to take on new challenges!
